The traditional ruler of Aluaja-Iyano in Ibaji Local Government Area of Kogi State, Chief Benjamin Akoji, has called on the Federal Government, National Human Rights Commission, NHRC and Amnesty International to help in the resettlement of his people who had been displaced since last May, following the incessant attack and killing over chieftaincy title. Buhari Buhari Chief Akoji, who spoke on the heel of last weekend’s renewed attacks that led to the death of one of his subjects, John Ateli, and disappearance of another, Omanyo Acholo, said the crisis had made some of the residents of the community flee to neighbouring villages, with no means of returning home. The traditional leader in a ‘Save our Soul’ statement made available to journalists in Lokoja, noted that the call had become necessary to stop the wanton destruction of lives and property. He said: “The aftermath of the crisis has led to the desertion of my subjects to neighbouring villages for safety of their lives, while the people of the community who were displaced since the 2015 mayhem are yet to return home after several efforts. “We call on security agents and Kogi State government to come to the aid of people of Aluaja-Iyano to ensure their safety return to their ancestral home.”
