BRIEF HISTORY OF IKWERRE PEOPLE AND THEIR IGBOS BROTHERS.

Before the creation of Nigeria in 1914 Ikwerre people are living peacefully with their Igbo brothers. Our igbo speaking brother live in port Harcourt which serves as an access to sea for importation of their various goods.But after the creation of Nigeria in 1914 and subsequent creation of eastern Nigeria government the volume the trade of the old eastern region increased making port Harcourt a bee hive of export and import activities of the south east. While Yoruba and Hausa people trade activities take place in Lagos. Due to the presence of sea port in Port Harcourt so many of our Igbo brother came down to port Harcourt to do their import and export business which they so much flourished in. Igbo in port Harcourt flourished to the admiration of other people. Igbo bought lands and developed it building various industries and commerce flourish. The Igbos never forceful collected or coerced ikwerre people’s land. But jealousy and envy came in when ikwerre people are overwhelmed by the level of progress igbo achieved and fear that in no time igbo people will be deciding factors politically and economically in portharcourt. Ikwerre women love Igbos because of their success these envied the ikwerre men. So many ikwerre men sold their land to igbos but after the igbos successfully develop it ikwerre men would want to collect their land back. Some ikwerre men sold community lands and their brother’s land claiming it is their own personal land. Due to sporadic progress the Ikwerre people became afraid opf being dominated by Igbo. Prior to the declaration of Biafra by Ojukwu the Ikwerre people played double card they were negotiating with Gowon but at same time they are assured Ojukwu of their allegiance. They demanded from Gowon for the creation of a separate so that they can use authority to collect igboland and properties. Gowon created Rivers state 27th May, 1967 while Ojukwu declared Biafra in 30th May ,1967. Ikwerre people join Gowon with other other Niger-delta people headed by Major Adaka Boro to kill Biafran soldiers in the riverine areas. As soon as Major Isaac Adaka Boro finished killing biafran soldiers in Niger Delta,Ewusa/foolani people killed adaka boro while he was on inspection. Since history before the advent of Nigeria Igbo speaking biafrans have never had any problems with their brothers in riverine areas all these igbo did these igbo did that started with one Nigeria. Ikwerre and igbos issues started with ewusa/foolani and british who wanted to destroy their deadliest enemy the igbo. But the worst of all is that present Ikwerre elders and fathers just concocted stories of how igbos forcefully collected their land before the war and how some igbo are collected their land during the war. Please we take note that Ikwerre people deceived Ojukwu to believe they supported Biafra they never fought against Nigeria in the war and they are afraid they Igbos will revenge their sabotage if they join Biafra. Gowon created rivers state for exchange of betrayal of Ojukwu and Biafran struglles. Sinceover 4 million Igbos went to lagos to do their import and export business have you ever heard that they forcefully collected yorobber man's land? It is only in Ikwerre land that their fathers and elders keep telling a false story of how igbos collected their land by force. Finally Ikwerre is a Dialect in Igbo Language.
