BENUE GOVT. TO CONSTRUCT 30 TOWNSHIP ROADS ACROSS THE STATE

Arising from the 3rd Executive Council meeting of 2018 on Wednesday 7th Benue State government has given approval for the  construction of Thirty (30) township roads across the three senatorial districts of the state to the tune of  Eight point Three billion (8.3b) naira.

The  township roads captured in the approval are in Makurdi, Otukpo, Gboko and Katsina Ala Local Government Areas respectively.

Also approved by the Exco was the commencement of contruction of the Awajir-Oju road awarded to CGGC Global projects Nigeria Limited at the cost of Four point Eight billion (4.8b) naira.

Briefing Newsmen at the end of the Council meeting chaired by Governor Samuel Ortom, Commssioner for Information and Orientation, Mr.Lawrence Onoja Junior, said the Ministry of Works had been directed to sign MOU on behalf of government with the Contractor Ghas Integrated Service Limited with directive to the commissioner of Finance to sign relevant documents with the company for the immediate commencement of the projects.

The Information Commissioner stated that Exco approved the phase Three participation of Benue in the Federal Government Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing project and directed the Agric Commissioner to handle all requirements for intervention by Rural Access and Agricultural office, Abuja.

Mr.Onoja revealed that Exco equally approved Benue participation in the Federal Government World Bank Greenfield programme tagged "Performance For Results scheduled to commence July this year.

He added that in respect of the Greenfield programme, a steering committee had been constituted and chaired by the Director General of State Planning Commission with Debt Management Office, Benue Internal Revenue Service BIRS, Accountant General and Auditor General as members.

According to the commissioner Exco as well approved the appointment of Dr. Sunday Edor as the substantive Provost, College of Education, Oju.

Dr. Edor until this appointment was the Special Adviser to the Benue state Governor on Labour
